Amanda Shank is an artist, educator, and creative consultant.
With a multidisciplinary practice rooted in the interplay between text and image, Amanda has worked throughout both the performing and visual arts including theater, opera, photography, dance and film. She has developed projects with the CalArts Center for New Performance, the National New Play Network and the Prototype Festival and has shared her work at venues such as the Ace Hotel DTLA, the Hammer Museum and Automata Arts. As a playwright, her work has been published in the US and translated internationally.
Amanda earned her BFA in Writing, Literature and Publishing from Emerson College and her MFA in Writing for Performance from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts). She is currently on faculty at CalArts where she also helps to facilitate career development within the student community.
She lives and works in Los Angeles.
